There are things in the realm of paranormal that even the most scientific and rational thinking people find hard to describe. Orbs, transparent light balls, seen in photographs are one such phenomenon. Interestingly, orbs have been there ever since photography came into existence. Initially people did not take notice of these round balls appearing in photos thinking of them as aberrations or some mistake by photographers. But when these balls started to appear frequently, and especially in photos taken at night in desolate places like cemeteries and old, dilapidated structures, people began to associate these balls with ghosts and spirits.

Believers talked of orbs as being spirits of the dead who were reluctant to leave for their heavenly abode and lived amidst living beings. These people justified the presence of round and transparent balls in photos as an attempt of these spirits to manifest themselves in the form of energy. Thos who believe in spirits and ghosts say that this is the most primitive and pure form of manifestation of spirits that gets captured in photographs. They are like pure energy trapped inside a bubble. However, there are many who rubbish such claims of orbs being energy bubbles having to do anything with paranormal. They say that dust particles settling on the lens, snow particles, and even insects flying past the lens at the time of the picture being taken are the explanation of round globes being seen in a photo. But why would there be dozens of orbs in a single photo is something scientists find hard to explain.

Pictures of orbs were, at one point of time, objects of curiosity and even accepted as proof of spirits and ghost by websites that were associated with all things paranormal. However, with the advent of digital cameras, the incidents of orbs appearing in photos have increased so much that some people have lost all interest in these so called energy globules. Orbs today are no longer restricted to dark, mysterious places as they are seen increasingly in happy events and occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries. What is more, orbs can be seen inside homes and bedrooms where supposedly there is nothing mysterious. With an ever increasing number of photos containing these so called ghosts or spirits, it becomes clear that the reflection of the flash striking against dust or other particles inside room is the most likely reason of the round and transparent globules.

Believers however refuse to give up, saying that these orbs are nothing but attempts by ghosts to show themselves up to us humans. They say that in fact spirits try to communicate with us in this fashion though there is no scientific basis to these claims. But believers say that this is the failure of science to not being able to decipher what ghosts are trying to say through this round and transparent balls seen in photos.

With science not able to provide a satisfactory explanation, it is likely that these round and transparent light globes will continue to remain in the category of the paranormal for some time to come.
